Young journalists to pledge for a better future

Journalism students at Bournemouth University are launching a photo campaign for young journalists to pledge what they want to make better in the future of media, in the wake of the hatred fuelled by the Paris attacks.

We’re trying to bring about fair and compassionate journalism and think that as the next generation of journalists, it’s up to us to do so.

We’d love to get as many journalism students on board as possible so here is how you can get involved! (All pictures should be posted on Friday, November 27 to mark the two-week remembrance for the #ParisAttacks victims) - Decide what change you want to make in the media. This is easy, think about why you decided to become a journalist in the first place!

Was it to give a voice to the voiceless? To counter misrepresentation of a certain group? To promote understanding? - Write it down on a piece of paper, starting with “I pledge to…” Don’t forget to add the hashtag #ItsUp2Us !

We attached our pledge so you can see what it looks like! - Post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and wherever you think it might have an impact! Spread the word around you and together, we can make the future of journalism start now.

If you have any questions or wonder how you can get involved in the campaign further, drop us a line! If you are a journalism professor, please spread the word to your students for maximum impact!
