Quiet window for Bournemouth

Despite multiple bids for Birmingham prospect Demarai Gray, AFC Bournemouth are set to complete the remainder of the season with a familiar squad list.

Transfer rumours indicate that Bournemouth bid £5m for the 18-year old winger, increasing their initial bid of £1.5m.

However, Gray stayed put at Birmingham as the window shut, and are delighted with his devotion to the club. A club statement read:

“Throughout this transfer window the board of directors and the manager have remained steadfast in the desire to keep Demarai.

“It has been well documented that we received several offers for Demarai, none of which reflected the ability and potential of the player, who is held in such high regard.

“And Demarai has never once given any indication that he wanted to leave.”

With Eddie Howe’s men in the driving seat for a historic promotion, it’s inevitable that some of Bournemouth’s star players will be attracting attention from other clubs.

The lack of incoming players shouldn’t be troublesome for Bournemouth as they’ve managed to keep hold of all first team players, with the only deals completed being loan extensions of development players.

Bournemouth are level on points with Derby County, who successfully signed Hull City’s Tom Ince and Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard on loan for the remainder of the campaign. The Rams new signings could pose a threat for Bournemouth’s incredible run, when they visit the Goldsands next Tuesday.
