Time for a spring clean of your wardrobe? What better way to do it than filling it back up with old vintage garments-if not even older than the clothes you’re throwing out.

Already January has come to an end, which means spring is just around the corner. Not only does this mean to tuck away your winter woollies and coats until next year, but also time to spring clean and rejuvenate your wardrobe. Although the January blues are still looming round and the end of January sales are coming to an end, what better way to cheer yourself up with a bit of retail therapy.

The typical saying when spring cleaning your wardrobe is ‘out with the old and in with the new’. Nothing is better than throwing away your old clothes that you don’t wear any more, and replacing them with newly purchased pristine clothes. However, vintage seems to be rocking the streets lately, and what better way to find a unique garment than visiting the vintage shops in Pokesdown, Bournemouth. ‘The Attic’ and ‘Clobber’ offer racks upon racks of vintage clothing.

From the leather and floral tapestry bags, to the woollen jumpers, oversized denim jackets, and the shimmering hand crafted sequin tops- there is something suited for everyone’s acquired tastes. Although these garments have previously been owned and warn, what better way to make it your own by accessorising and wearing it with your own choice of clothing. These Vintage boutiques seem to be a hotspot of students according to Fran Quinlan, who works at The Attic; “We have a variety of students come in here daily buying anything from a pair of earrings to a new coat. Our prices vary from 50p- £100 depending what you want to buy”.

At a smaller price compared to the mainstream and high priced stores, you can achieve the same style but a lower cost. Being students budgeting is at the top of our agendas,  The Attic’ offers 20% student discount, and Clubber offers 10% student discount.  For now the vintage stores supply us with unique original clothing that is sure to make a statement and to  be in with this years trends- you might even find an expensive label and well known brand amongst the rack if your lucky!
