alt-J at the BIC

Alt-J are in the middle of their UK tour and decided to drop Bournemouth a quick visit.

I’ve been a huge fan since I was 16, so it’s hard to be critical towards a band that I absolutely love to pieces.

They played on Tuesday at the BIC, the place was packed both in standing and seating areas.

The opening acts included Ghostpoet and The Horrors. I’ve saw The Horrors last year and they did not disappoint once again. For Ghostpoet, I have not really heard of him until now so I went in with an open mind.

Even though he only played around five songs, he has a unique voice that flows well with the beat. A new favourite of mine.

The main act of the night took the stage, cheering from the crowd. Alt-J started off their set with songs from their latest album including Left Hand Free, Every Other Freckle and Something Good.

By the end of the trilogy, everyone was up and dancing apart from those in the seating areas above, poor guys.

They played a mixture of songs from both An Awesome Wave and This Is All Yours however the set was quite short compared other artists who have played at the BIC.

This is probably due to the fact that the band have only produced two albums. To be honest, I would take quality over quantity any day.

They closed the show with the old fan favourite, Breezeblocks and now the band head off to Exeter for their next show.
